What is Reconditioning?

Reconditioning is the repair process that we employ to bring used vehicles back to like-new condition. This is how we are able to confidently sell a safe, good-looking, well-performing vehicle. After numerous years in the business, we have distilled the process down to eight simple steps:

Why Are Dyno Experts?

What Makes an Engineering Expert.

  • What we do with our Dyno Tuning Expertise?

Dyno Tuning is a super high tech tune up choice for your vehicle, We are specifically talking about the engine, by a qualified expert.

The term ‘Dyno' comes from a very specific equipment used in the tune up, called a dynamometer. When we use this, a qualified technician from our expertise can measure engine speed and torque, which can then be used to calculate engine-power output.

This is achieved safely and without your car ever leaving our professional workshop. Dynamometers use rollers to allow the testing of specific speed or torque settings under precise conditions. This then allows the mechanic performing the Dyno Tune to fine tune your engine on our specified measurement options.

Adjusting the air/fuel ratio to better suit your type of engine for example, can greatly improve performance yet maintain maximum fuel efficiency.

  • What are the advantages of Dyno Tuning?

One of the biggest advantages of a dyno tune is the fact that the car is tuned based on the results of testing under various driving conditions. This means a Chapmans Auto Repairs mechanic can tune your car to perform at its best when it really matters - while driving it.

A vehicle on the dynamometer, with the driving wheels on the dyno rollers, is tested with the engine running, in gear, and under various speeds and load conditions. The mechanic is then able to fully monitor the engine performance via a computer and compare the horse power transmitted to the drive wheels against the amount of vacuum present in the engine.

Fuel and air levels are closely monitored whilst checking the carburetion throughout each circuit of the carburettor. The mechanic then makes adjustments as indicated by the results of the dyno tuning. The actual adjustments made and the time it is likely to take will depend largely on the type of car being tuned, the normal driving application of the vehicle and any other information you have supplied to the mechanic on booking the car in.

All vehicles lose their exterior finish over time, and gravel-laden roads accelerate that aging. All reconditioned vehicles receive a cut polish service to remove any imperfections such as swirl marks or scratches. All trucks also receive an undercoating to protect against chassis rust, dramatically extending the vehicle’s life.

In step 6, all auto body imperfections are corrected. This includes dent repair and chip filling. If new panels are required, we’ll completely replace them. No expenses are spared during this step, leaving you with a nearly perfect looking vehicle.

In step 7 the final small details are perfected. We’ll ensure that every last inch is sparkling.

The final step of our reconditioning process is a mechanical inspection. In this step, a certified technician inspects the entire vehicle from inside-out to ensure it meets industry standards. This certification guarantees that your vehicle is safe and mechanically sound.
